Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
I am currently not working. I was doing farming to support my siblings who are in secondary school as the first born in a family of three. However, my financial circumstances have posed a significant barrier to achieve my goal, my business was not generating enough profits due to devaluation of the Malawi kwacha and my parents who are in 80’s separated when I was in primary school and not working which placed additional strain on my family making them unable to support me with school fees. It would not be possible for me to achieve my dream of becoming a professional nurse without the help of iSTEPup. My mother is not working and there is no one in our family who could volunteer him/herself to support me financially by providing me with fees and basic needs because nursing courses are very expensive here in Malawi so I would not be able to support myself with the little money I was generating from farming and my business. Despite these challenges, I have been determined to fight for my dreams and complete my studies. I began searching for sponsorship opportunities on social media and that’s when I stumbled upon, iSTEPup Foundation. I was thrilled to discover that your organization offers support to students like me.
I am very excited to the iSTEPup foundation for helping me to achieve my longtime dream of becoming a professional nurse/midwife in my country. Being a professional nurse will help me to serve well as there high numbers of people living with HIV due to shortage of nurses in provision of preventive services like condoms, Prep and PEP and other is lack of access to health services due to long distances. I am willing to work in remote areas where a lot of people do not have access to health service.
Buddy
William van de Weg, Emergency room nurse.
My name is William van de Weg, and I work as an Emergency Room Nurse in the Netherlands. I had the privilege of working with Elenesto during my time as a volunteer at Nkoma Hospital in Malawi, where I witnessed first-hand his exceptional qualities as a nurse.
During my volunteer work in Malawi, Elenesto was an invaluable member of the healthcare team. Elenesto’s passion for nursing and his natural talent in healthcare were evident from the very beginning. He has an innate ability to remain calm under pressure, which is a critical skill for any healthcare professional. Whether it was assisting in emergency situations or providing comfort to those in need, Elenesto showed a deep understanding of the importance of compassionate care. Based on my personal experience working with him, I firmly believe that Elenesto has the qualities and skills needed to succeed in a nursing program and ultimately become an outstanding nurse. His dedication, empathy, and work ethic are qualities that will undoubtedly make him a valuable asset to any healthcare institution.
