Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
It would not be possible for me to achieve my dream without the help of iSTEPup. It would have been impossible. I am coming from a family of 8 were I am the fourth born. My mother is the house wife and father is the local farmer. For example during my secondary education he managed to pay school fees by selling his produce but it was very difficulty to pay all school fees. Now the new transition in my life of becoming a clinical medicine have permit me to find a good job to be able to take care of myself, my family, my community, my country. Also I have a youngest sisters who have poor studying condition need my help in terms of paying school fees. The other fact is that, college, especially medical college in Tanzania is very expensive, so I wouldn’t be able to pay my own fees. To facilitate myself through college, I would need more than 6 years to save enough money to sustain myself through college. Thank you so much for your help.

Ik heb Martiniusi leren kennen tijdens de bouw van de school in de Kagera-regio. Hij hielp
vrijwillig mee vanaf het begin: iedere dag aanwezig, hardwerkend, vriendelijk en altijd bereid
om te leren. Hij is de zoon van de familie bij wie ik verbleef, een warm boerengezin dat het
financieel moeilijk heeft. Ze leven eenvoudig van wat het land opbrengt en kunnen het
schoolgeld voor Martiniusi niet betalen.
Wat mij direct opviel aan Martiniusi is zijn discipline en doorzettingsvermogen. Ondanks
beperkte middelen heeft hij zichzelf goed Engels geleerd, en spreekt hij met zelfvertrouwen
en respect. Hij heeft ook enkele maanden in het leger gediend, waar hij veel discipline en
verantwoordelijkheidsgevoel heeft ontwikkeld.
Zijn droom is om Clinical Officer te worden, zodat hij anderen kan helpen en zijn familie een
beter toekomstperspectief kan geven. Hij is slim, leergierig en heeft de juiste instelling om te
slagen. Ik geloof dat, met steun van de stichting, hij zijn droom echt kan waarmaken en een
groot verschil kan betekenen in zijn gemeenschap.
