Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation

It was a challenging task for me to procure the necessary tuition fees, which inevitably had an adverse impact on my studies. As a single mother, I had no source of external support and found myself preoccupied with thoughts about how to finance my education. The iSTEPup scholarship will serve as a much-needed relief for both myself and my family.

This financial aid will positively influence my mental well-being by allowing me to focus more attentively on achieving my goal of becoming a state-registered nurse. Once I complete this degree program, it will provide the foundation needed for me to specialize in neonatal care.

I will also be able to engage in community service projects that address specific healthcare needs within my locality and the whole country at large. These initiatives could involve organizing health-related events or participating in disaster relief efforts while collaborating with other organizations towards enhancing healthcare access and outcomes.

I am very grateful to introduce you to Sylvia Kaipa.
Initially, I was unfamiliar with Sylvia, as I work at St. Luke’s Hospital while she studies at Malawi Adventist University. She was looking for a Dutch doctor as a buddy to help her get accepted into the iStep up program and thus realize her dream. Because we did not know each other, Sylvia traveled across the country to meet me. During our conversation I was touched by her drive and willpower. Our conversation revealed that Sylvia is a highly motivated, dedicated and hardworking nurse. She also told me that she is a single mother, responsible for taking care of herself, her child and her brother. The recommending nurses praised Sylvia! They attested to Sylvia’s diligence and potential as a mentor to fellow students. Sylvia will certainly contribute to better healthcare in Malawi. It is fantastic that her dream can become reality through the acceptance of the iSTEPup Foundation.

Zikomo kwambiri, thank you very much!
