Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation

I’m Potentinius Adrabet, 26 years old, from Muleba, Tanzania. I’m the second of five kids in a farming family. As the second of five children in a family of farmers, our daily existence is a battle against poverty. My mom can’t read, but she’s our hero, selling grains to pay for my school. It made it possible that now i can work in clinical medicine to gain experience.

Being a doctor has always been my dream, but I always knew it was impossible due to our financial situation. Even though I would like to see me and my parents break free from the limitations of our circumstances, it is a hard battle. My parents work hard, but with four other siblings, school fees for a medical degree are impossible.

This struggle is not mine alone; it shows the also the dream of my parents. They hope for a brighter future for me, a future that due to our current economic circumstances is not possible. Without external support, my dream is slipping through my fingers.

I’m not telling this to feel sorry; I just hope it makes you understand. Your support means more than just school fees; it’s a lifeline for my family. Your help is more than money; it’s a chance for my family and my community to have a better future. If you support me, you’re not just helping me be a doctor; you’re helping me take care of people. I love caring for patients, and I feel a responsibility to help Tanzania.

Thank you for reading my story and considering helping. Your kindness is a light in our financial darkness. With your support, I can reach my dream and make life better for all of us.

Buddy

Pam Jansen, Medical student.

I met Potentinius during my recent medical internship in Tanzania. He worked on the OPD, handling numerous patients as a clinical officer. However, Potentinus went beyond his duties, spending his free time checking on patients from the previous day and attending surgeries for those he had seen in the OPD. An incredibly dedicated clinical officer, he expressed his dream of becoming a doctor, but financial constraints hindered him. Potentinus comes from a humble background, raised in a family of five by parents who work as farmers. Despite the financial challenges, his dedication as a clinical officer showcased his passion for healthcare. Now, with the opportunity to pursue his dream of studying medicine, he is incredibly motivated to begin this journey. I found it unfortunate that such a promising individual faced obstacles in realizing his potential due to financial limitations. I’m thrilled that he now has the chance to overcome these barriers, and your donation makes this possible. This not only benefits Potentinius personally but also extends to all his future patients. Your contribution supports someone devoted to their community, ensuring the best care for patients in Tanzania. I look forward to visiting Potentinius during his studies, witnessing firsthand the impact of your generosity. Thank you for helping Potentinius kickstart his education!
