Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
I am currently studying medicine at Njala University and I aspire to become a medical doctor in Sierra Leone. My passion for medicine comes from seeing many people, especially in rural areas, suffer due to lack of proper healthcare services. I am applying for the iSTEPup Foundation Scholarship Program because I need support to continue my education. This scholarship will help reduce my financial burden and allow me to concentrate on my studies. My goal is to serve communities across Sierra Leone by providing quality healthcare and improving lives. I believe this opportunity will help me achieve my ambition and give back to my country.

Ryan Proos, Medical Doctor in Global Health and Tropical Medicine
My name is Ryan Proos, and I’m a medical doctor working at Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital in Sierra Leone. I worked with Mohammed for a few months in Kamakwie before he left to start studying medicine. I noticed that a lot of staff in the hospital were proud of Mohammed, a “son of the soil” going to become a medical doctor. I am happy to do my bit in order to help Mohammed along in this great opportunity, and am grateful to iSTEPup and Welbodi Foundation for their support in making this possible.
