Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
I am sincerely grateful to iSTEPup for accepting my scholarship application. This opportunity means more than words can express. Coming from a background where financial challenges are part of daily life, paying school fees has always been a struggle. There were times I worried I would have to drop out, just as some of my brothers and sisters have, simply because we could not afford to continue our education.
Receiving this scholarship is not only a relief for me but a source of hope for my entire family. It has lifted a heavy burden and allowed me to focus on my academic goals without the constant fear of being sent home for unpaid fees. It has renewed my determination to succeed and become a positive example for my siblings and others in my community.
iSTEPup has not only provided financial assistance but also restored my faith in possibilities. I am motivated more than ever to work hard, achieve my dreams and eventually give back to the community that raised me. I envision a future where I can help others the way iSTEPup has helped me through mentorship, support and creating opportunities for those who come after me.
Thank you, iSTEPup, for believing in my potential and walking this journey with me. I promise to make this opportunity count and to carry forward your spirit of generosity and empowerment.

Martine van Eijk, medical doctor in Early Childhood Development, Malawi.
I got to know Mary through a mutual friend in Southern Malawi. I came to know her as a motivated Nursing and Midwifery student, who is dedicated to find ways to study and serve her community. Mary grew up in a family of 8 children and is the first in her family to attend university. Both Mary and her family go above and beyond for Mary to fulfil her studies, but without external support, Mary will not be able to continue her studies. Despite all challenges, she remains focused on her goal of becoming a nurse-midwife. She has already come so far and with her dedication I feel like she will make a positive impact in the lives of mothers and infants in the region she was born.
Thank you for your support!
