Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
I wanted to become a nurse so that I could help the ones in need and the less privileged in the nearby villages that are lacking medical care. I have seen a lot of households going through tough times especially during the EBOLA and COVID 19 pandemic. I decided to study nursing so I could help them in the best way possible. After I finished my study as a SECHN nurse, I started volunteering at Masanga Hospital. Working in the learning environment of Masanga Hospital, together with other well-trained nurses motivated me to continue to develop myself, so I could help my patients even better. Since I was not able to cover the costs for the SRN course, I decided to apply for the iSTEPup Foundation. I’m very happy and grateful for this opportunity.

Since over two years I have been working as a medical doctor in Masanga, Sierra Leone. I met Juliet when working in the Emergency Unit in Masanga. This is the ward with the most sick patients, that require a more intensive care. When working with Juliet I was impressed by her work ethics, her clinical skills and organizational abilities. I am really happy that through i-step-up she has the change to study further and make the most out of her nursing talent.
