Why I need the iSTEPup Foundation
My name is Daniel Santos Conteh. I am a dedicated Nurse from Masanga Hospital, Tonkolili District, Sierra Leone, working at the Paediatric ward as an incharge and hospital nurse educator.
Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Education. I am committed to growing academically and professionally so I can contribute meaningfully to our healthcare system. As a practicing nurse, I combine my clinical experience with my studies to learn better ways of teaching, mentoring, and caring for patients. My goal is to become a competent educator who can train nurses with both strong skills and compassion.
I come from a poor family background. Despite my best efforts, supporting my education has been very challenging. I currently have the responsibility of caring for my mother and 2 dependent siblings. I am their main source of support for school fees, feeding, and health needs. Balancing these family responsibilities with my tuition and learning materials has made it difficult to focus fully on my studies.
My future plan is to become an outstanding Nurse Educator, both nationally and internationally. I want to train the next generation of nurses, improve nursing standards, and help strengthen healthcare delivery in Sierra Leone and beyond. I believe education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty in my family and to serving my community better.
As I was humbly asking for support to help me complete my degree and meet my family obligations. With your support, I can focus on my studies, graduate, and use my skills to educate others and give back. In amazement, It was my joy when I was taken up by the University though I worried a lot of the source of tuition fees.
Thank you for considering my request.
